Yashodha, a smallholder farmer in Konnapura, a small village in Karnataka, India, used to rear dairy cattle to support her family. When Yashodha decided to start her small sericulture business — raising silkworms to produce raw silk — she needed capital to invest in her enterprise.
Accion partnered with Dvara KGFS to leverage digital technology to make affordable credit accessible to small-business owners. With access to necessary capital, Yashodha invested in building a room for rearing silkworms and an irrigation system to cultivate leaves to feed them. Read Yashodha’s story here.
