Guadalajara, July 9, 2024 — Moffin, a leader in software and data integration in Mexico, announced that it has completed a $2.1 million seed funding round led by Accion Venture Lab and Chile Ventures. Fondation Botnar, New Ventures Capital, Rally Cap Ventures, Digital Currency Group, Carabela and AngelHub also participated in the round, with the goal of propelling the expansion of the company and refining Moffin’s innovative platform across Mexico.

Moffin is dedicated to democratizing data access, enabling businesses of all sizes to build trust without the need for costly in-house systems. Traditionally, companies require extensive resources to manage data integrations and perform analyses, including working with engineering teams and specialized data analysts. Moffin removes these barriers by offering a unified platform that combines comprehensive data access with powerful analytical tools.

This investment will be used to enhance Moffin’s platform capabilities, particularly in automating monitoring, compliance, data analysis, and regulatory tasks. By doing so, Moffin will strengthen its service offerings and market reach to include more industries and larger-scale operations.

Currently, Moffin supports a wide range of applications for businesses and individuals, from credit evaluations to tenant screenings and employment background checks. The platform has processed over one million screenings for more than 70 companies across Mexico. Moffin’s clients have improved their operational capacity, reduced time spent introducing new screening products, and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in engineering costs. With this new round of funding, Moffin aims to establish itself as the market leader in Mexico in enabling trusted relationships between individuals and businesses.

As Nicholas Andrés Yepes, COO of Moffin and one of three co-founders, commented: “The support from our investors enables us to accelerate our roadmap for developing cutting-edge tools that enhance data usability across multiple industries. This funding round will empower our clients to make trusted decisions regarding their clients, employees, and partners more efficiently than ever before.”

Accion Venture Lab Managing Partner Amee Parbhoo noted: “As companies increasingly adopt data-driven decision-making, Moffin is rapidly becoming an essential infrastructure layer  in their operations. Their data integration platform is a powerful tool for outsourcing non-core tasks, such as maintaining connections to third party providers and automating information requests. This allows companies to design better products and focus on serving their customers. At Accion Venture Lab, we’re excited about how Moffin’s solutions let financial institutions better understand and serve thin and no-file customers, many of whom are small businesses and individuals from underserved communities.”

Marcelo Camus, General Partner of Chile Ventures, said: “Moffin represents the combination of an exceptional founding team with an original idea to address a major problem. The proposal of a platform that simplifies the integration of information sources to evaluate clients’ risk profiles seemed to us a highly innovative approach to this challenge, especially in Latin America, where each industry and country has its own peculiarities.”
