Investment Officer, Venture Lab
Matthieu Albrieux is an Investment Officer with Accion Venture Lab, leading the team’s deal activity and portfolio engagement in Latin America.
Before joining Venture Lab, Matthieu was an associate in charge on fintech and energy investments at Antoni & Lelo de Larrea Venture Partners (ALLVP), a leading Mexican early-stage venture capital fund. Prior to AllVP, Matthieu worked at Société Générale CIB in Mexico on the structuring of corporate debt products for the telecommunications, media and technology, natural resources, and infrastructure sectors, as well as on cross-border merger and acquisition transactions. Matthieu previously held responsibilities in the energy purchasing team of ArcelorMittal where he gained substantial experience in operations management and value chain logistics. Matthieu also served as project manager for Air Liquide, working on strategic planning and marketing.
Matthieu has a B.A. in management and economics with a major in marketing and strategy from Paris-Dauphine University, and holds a master's degree in international business and economics from Paris-Dauphine University and La Sorbonne University.
Program Coordinator, Venture Lab
Joel Wilson is the Program Coordinator with Accion Venture Lab, providing operation support to the team. He assists in tracking performance of portfolio companies in addition to participating in business development activities. He also helps to develop and update marketing collateral to support internal and external positioning while promoting industry recognition.
Joel has experience providing administrative support, analysis, research and marketing materials in various internship positions at the International Energy Partnership, Blue Water Media, and Michael Romeo Group. He has gained a majority of his professional experience in Washington, DC and has attended school in Canada.
Joel has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University in Montreal where he studied marketing and entrepreneurship.
Managing Director, Venture Lab
Tahira Dosani is Managing Director of Accion Venture Lab, leading the fund’s work on portfolio engagement, which entails working with Venture Lab’s portfolio companies to provide strategic and operational expertise that accelerates their growth trajectories. Additionally, she supports investment decisions, manages portfolio relationships, and drives the strategy and growth of Venture Lab.
Tahira previously led strategic projects at LeapFrog Investments, a specialist emerging market profit-with-purpose private equity fund focused on financial services. Prior to that, she worked as Director of Strategy at the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development. Based in Dubai, she drove strategic initiatives for portfolio companies and led new investments in telecoms, technology and infrastructure in South and Central Asia and the Middle East. She also worked in Kabul at Roshan, Afghanistan’s leading telecommunications operator, where she was Head of Corporate Strategy and launched the country’s first mobile money platform. Tahira began her career as a management consultant with Bain & Company in Boston. She has also worked at the Bridgespan Group on various education and health initiatives in Pakistan, Tanzania, Kenya, and Egypt.
Tahira holds an MBA from INSEAD and BAs in International Relations, Computer Science, and Education from Brown University.
Senior Investment Officer, Venture Lab
Amee Parbhoo is a Senior Investment Officer with Venture Lab, leading the team’s deal activity and portfolio engagement in Africa.
Amee was most recently an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, serving public, private, and social sector clients focused on financial services and international development. Previously, she worked in business development at SKS Microfinance, India’s largest microfinance institution. In that role, she designed new product lines in credit and microsavings, tested new technologies and platforms, and worked on the company’s initial public offering. Amee has consulted a number of financial inclusion enterprises, including Root Capital, Jipange Kusave and Grameen Bank, and co-founded a web-based platform that empowered students in the U.S. to manage and repay their student loans.
Amee has a bachelor of arts in Political Science and Economics from Davidson College and an MBA from The Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.
Portfolio Manager, Venture Lab
John Plaisted is a Portfolio Manager with Venture Lab, supporting the team’s global portfolio engagement and deal activity from DC.
Prior to joining Accion, John was a Senior Associate Consultant at Bain & Company in the Boston and Washington, DC offices. At Bain, John served clients across a variety of industries, including consumer products, retail, industrial goods, and aerospace and defense clients. Previously, John worked at the Center for High Impact Philanthropy in Philadelphia researching trends in impact investing.
John has a bachelor of science in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Managing Director, Venture Lab
Vikas Raj is Managing Director at Venture Lab, leading the group’s work on investments, in addition to managing portfolio relationships and driving the strategy and growth of Venture Lab.
Prior to joining Accion, Vikas was an M&A investment banker at Evercore Partners, where he advised on multiple corporate transactions with aggregate value of over $45 billion across the technology, real estate, consumer products and industrials sectors. Previously, Vikas worked in microfinance, primarily in India, at Ujjivan and Catalyst Microfinance Investors (CMI). At Ujjivan, Vikas co-led the establishment of the firm’s first lending branches in Delhi and helped lead the firm’s Series B financing round. At CMI, Vikas was responsible for establishing and investing in the fund’s greenfield MFIs in India, Nigeria, and the Philippines. Vikas also co-led Columbia Business School’s student-run Microfinance Investment Fund. Vikas started his career at Deloitte Consulting where he was in the Corporate Strategy group.

Principal Manager of Knowledge and Industry Engagement, Venture Lab
Nancy Widjaja is the Principal Manager of Knowledge and Industry Engagement at Venture Lab, leading the team’s efforts in identifying, analyzing, and articulating key trends and lessons emerging from the work of Venture Lab and our portfolio, as well as in engaging with the industry and stakeholders to amplify the reach and scale of our efforts in service of positive and innovative sector development.
Prior to joining Accion, Nancy led strategic projects and advocacy initiatives on financial inclusion and digital financial services with the UN Capital Development Fund and the Better Than Cash Alliance. Previously, Nancy was the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI)’s Manager of Strategic Planning and Partnership, in which she led and managed AFI’s overall strategy in advancing financial inclusion policy initiatives, established institutional partnerships, and expanded AFI’s network across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Nancy began her career as a management consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, serving private and public sector clients across South and Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Nancy holds a bachelor of arts in Economics from the University of Indonesia and an MPA in Development Practice from Columbia University.
