Prateek Shrivastava
Vice President, Group Head – Global

Prateek Shrivastava is Vice President, Digital Solutions at Accion. He is responsible for supporting Accion’s banks, MFIs and investments to use digital channels effectively. His passion is to build operationally strong and commercially viable businesses based on digital technologies.

Prateek is experienced in implementing technology and building operational businesses over the past 22 years across 25 countries. Since 2006, he worked in several roles building systems to deliver digital financial services at scale for the unbanked in emerging markets in Asia and Africa. He has helped design technology, business strategy, raise funding and build field staff and customer support systems. During this time, he was Managing Director for Emerging Markets at Monitise plc where he was responsible for the expansion of Monitise’s services in Nigeria, India and Indonesia. Prateek left Monitise in 2012 to set up a specialist consultancy, Accendo Associates, through which he worked on projects for IFC, World Bank, USAID and several private digital services companies.

In 2013, he co-founded BeyondBranches, an agent centric digital financial services company in Nigeria. He sold this business to a large regional payments provider.

Prateek has published several papers and has guest edited journals and books. He regularly gives talks at events around the world including at the UK House of Lords, World Economic Forum and GSMA Mobile World Congress.

Prateek holds an MBA specializing in Mobile Banking and Microfinance from the Henley Management College, a Masters in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Applied Computing from University of Western Sydney, Australia.


Mona Kapoor
Director – India

Mona Kapoor is Accion's Director of Digital Solutions, India. Bssed in Mumbai, Mona works with teams across Accion to implement Global Solutions and Digital Solutions projects in the country. 

Mona brings more than 15 years of experience in product development as well as sales and marketing experience in the Payments, Banking and Service industry. Mona joins us from National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) where she was instrumental in the concept, design and implementation of RuPay, India’s own card scheme (like Visa and Mastercard) and the linked insurance program. This initiative is a key part of India’s Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) which, today, is the world’s largest financial inclusion program. Most recently at NPCI, Mona helped design digital payment services for dairy and non-dairy farmers to increase efficiency of getting their product to market. Before joining RuPay, Mona was at Kotak Mahindra Bank, the 4th largest private sector bank in India, where she introduced card products for small and medium enterprises. Prior to Kotak, Mona was at Visa India where she drove product usage across various member banks.

Mona has a bachelor’s degree in Physics, from University of Pune, India and holds a post graduate diploma in Business Management from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies Mumbai, India.


Sandra Calderon
Manager – Latin America

Sandra Calderon is Accion’s Digital Solutions Manager for Latin America, responsible for developing and implementing projects in the region, and providing support to microfinance institutions and banks to implement and manage their digital financial service channels. At Accion, Sandra has been working with our partners in Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic implementing channels  such as ATMs, mini branches, mobile banking, and agent networks, and advised and supported these institutions during the stages of strategy planning, defining objectives, market research, development, testing, and launching, as well as training management and field staff.

Sandra has also developed Channels planning documents for other MFIs and banks in the regions, on how to best improve their current channels operations and consider new channels for development to achieve their long term business objectives.

Sandra has 20 years of experience in the financial payments and technology sector, in areas such as: insurance, banking, credit cards, customer service, and digital channels (i.e. mobile and agent network banking).  She previously worked at HSBC Colombia, where she was the Channels Manager.  In this role she developed and implemented projects related with the call center, IVR, internet banking, agent networks and ATMs.  She has worked on strategic analysis, planning, vendor selection, contract development, monitoring service levels, and management information systems.

Prior to HSBC, Sandra worked with Lloyds TSB Bank and Banco Anglo Colombiano, where she developed customer service projects, customer service strategy, implemented service protocols, and provided staff training, quality process assurance, and developed loyalty and retention strategies.

Sandra is a degreed Economist from Santo Tomás Unversity, completed with Finance specialization, and received training in project management, trainer of trainers and customer service. She also completed the Boulder Microfinance Training program. She lives with her family in Bogota. Spanish is her mother tongue and she can also work in English speaking environments, as she has completed professional training in English.


Kathleen Yaworsky
Manager – Global

Kathleen Yaworsky is Digital Solutions Global Manager at Accion, responsible for supporting implementation of Digital Solutions projects in focus areas including digital financial services, big data applications for financial inclusion, mobile money, agent networks, and alternative service models. She provides due diligence and advisory services to MFIs and Fintech startups globally, on strategy, implementation and management of digital financial service channels.

Kathleen also leads Digital Solutions’s industry engagement activities, charged with developing its global research and learning agenda as well as managing the development and publication of knowledge products to build capacity for digital financial services among industry actors.

Kathleen has more than eight years of international and project management experience including strategy, design, and implementation of community-based development programs in Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, on issues ranging from digital financial services, water and sanitation, to health and gender.

Kathleen has consulted with MasterCard’s Government Services and Solutions team to conduct market research evaluating merchant and consumer pain points resulting from the digitization of cash transfers in the Mexican government’s Oportunidades program. Her master’s thesis expanded on this original research in Mexico to complete a case study on digitizing G2P social benefit programs. She has also worked on strategy and operations for the MasterCard Center for Inclusive Growth.

Previously, Kathleen served as Acting Executive Director at Voss Foundation. Before joining Voss Foundation as Program Officer, she served for two years in Peace Corps Ukraine, delivering training and NGO capacity building.

Kathleen completed her M.A. in International Business and Development Economics at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. She received a Certificate in Digital Money from Digital Frontiers Institute, and holds a B.A. in International Relations and Romance Languages from Bowdoin College. She speaks French, Spanish, Ukrainian and some Russian.
